The stomach bug just hit my home this past week and boy was it CRAZY. My daughter brought it home from preschool and it slowly took down every member of my family, (including one of our dogs), with the exception of ME. Vomiting, running nose, fever and body aches were the symptoms of all 3 of my kids. My poor husband got very sick as well and had to go to the doctor. I try not to panic in these types of situations BUT I do have an autoimmune disorder that makes it especially hard for to me to stay well because of my compromised immune system. This is why I have put an action plan in place! If I feel a tickle in my throat or see one of my kids sneezing I start my action plan immediately!

Tip #1

Drink 1 tablespoon of unpasteurized apple cider vinegar with the juice of one lemon plus a little water FIRST thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

Apple Cider Vinegar has amazing health benefits and it doubles its’ greatness because it is also considered a probiotic. ACV will also balance your PH level and basically fight off any bad bacteria or virus you have in your body.

Tip #2

Load up on probiotics!!! Drink kefir milkshakes in between breakfast and lunch. Kefir is one of the strongest probiotics that you can get your hands on. It contains a variety of strains of live bacteria that you need to fight off infection and stay healthy. In addition, it contains vitamins that you need such as vitamin B12, calcium, magnesium, vitamin K2, biotin, folate and enzymes.

Tip # 3

Drink more probiotics!! Drink water kefir or kombucha for dinner. Both are great probiotics and their health benefits are endless.

Tip # 4

Reduce the amount of sugar you are eating. Sugar slows down your immune system and your bodies ability to fight off infection.

Tip #5

Get plenty of sleep and drink lots of water.

Tip #6

Drink bone broth!!! Bone broth contains things like collagen, glutamine, glycine and proline. It also helps fight inflammation and restores the lining in your gut.

Tip #6

Grab your oils!! I diffuse oils that will not only cleanse the air but will support healthy immune function. My favorites are wild orange, clove bud, eucalyptus, cinnamon bark, lemon and lemon grass.

Tip #8

Wash your hands! I feel like this is a given but I always make sure I wash my hands and try not to touch my face.

And there you have it! My action plan for staying healthy. I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you for stopping by. What do you do to stay healthy?

  1. I wish I would have read this about two months ago!! I will most definitely follow it next time JB is sick. I do almost of these things but only when I am sick in order to get better. Now that I think about it.. I was being reactive instead of proactive. Proactive is always best! Thank you!
