I love fresh juice! I would dare to say I am a little obsessed with the whole process; picking out my organic produce, concocting everything together like a mad scientist and watching my kids face light up when they try my new mystery drink. I do have to be so careful though when I drink fresh juice or any juice for that matter. I do not believe in “meal supplementing” with juice or the latest craze, “juice detoxing” in which you starve your body of food and bog  it down with sugar via juicing with a bunch of fruit. I have hypoglycemia and hashimotos, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid, both of which make it challenging to regulate my blood sugar. I only drink juice when I have eaten a full meal or I enjoy it with a meal I am eating. I never drink juice by itself or on an empty stomach. Never! With that said, juicing has great health benefits and far outweighs any juice at the grocery store, which by the way, is pasteurized meaning all the vitamins are cooked out before packaging. Yey for sugar water!

Here is my family’s favorite juice recipe and of course, it’s kid approved. Water kiefer is also great to add to your juice to transform this powerful drink into a probiotic refresher.

 

Carrot Kick Start!

Makes 3-4 servings

6 Whole organic carrots

1 Organic Red Apple

1 Organic Lemon

4 Handfuls of organic mixed greens

Process in your juicer and Enjoy!!
